Professor Kornelia Kotseva, MD, PhD, FESC
Professor Kornelia Kotseva, MD, PhD, FESC holds academic appointment at the Department of Cardiovascular Medicine, National Heart & Lung Institute, Imperial College London as well as positions as Consultant Cardiologist at the Imperial College Healthcare NHS Trust and as Visiting Professor at the Department of Public Health, Ghent University, Belgium.
She has been Chair of the Steering Committee of the European Society of Cardiology EUROASPIRE IV and V surveys, aiming to describe the risk factor management in patients with coronary disease and in people at high cardiovascular risk in Europe. Furthermore, she was a Principal Investigator of the EUROASPIRE III Health Economics study and Co- Principal Investigator, senior clinical project manager and medical coordinator of the ESC EUROASPIRE III survey, the British Cardiovascular Society ASPIRE-2-PREVENT and ASPIRE-3-PREVENT surveys and the EUROACTION, EUROACTION PLUS and other studies.
Professor Kotseva has won numerous prestigious awards and has authored more than 200 publications in peer reviewed journals, two textbooks and chapters for a further eight textbooks. She is a member of the International Editorial Board of the European Journal of Preventive Cardiology, a past member of the Nucleus of the former ESC Working Group on Epidemiology and Prevention and a Member of the Research Council of the Foundation for Circulatory Health, Imperial College London.
She teaches at the Master’s Certificate programme on Cardiovascular Health and Disease Prevention’ and leads the module on Cardiovascular Risk Estimation.
Her main interest is cardiovascular prevention and she serves as consultant cardiologist in the Imperial College NHS Cardiovascular Health and Rehabilitation programme.
